Procrastinating

I'm working on an article on spec for Military History. Argh. I want it to be perfect, so they'll love me, but that paralyzes my ability to create words. And they didn't give me a date, so it's so easy to put off.

And I have great ideas for queries for Woman's Day and Family Circle.

I just read the best book I've read in a long time, War and the Soul by Edward Tick. I have to review it for Altar Magazine. I'll let you know when that happens.

And I'm reading El Leon, La Bruja, y El Ropero. In Spanish. Yes, I'm teaching myself Spanish now.

Okay, back to work.

Appropos of absolutely nothing.

An Anglo-Saxon Riddle

Moððe word fræt. Me þæt þuhte
Wrætlicu wyrd, þa ic þæt wundor gefrægn,
Þæt se wyrm forswealg wera gied sumes,
Þeof in þystro, þrymfæstne cwide
Ond þæs strangan staþol. Stælgiest ne wæs
Wihte þy gleawra þe he þam wordum swealg.

A moth ate words. It seemed to me
a curious happening, when I heard that wonder,
that the worm swallowed down the speech of a certain man,
a thief in the dark, the glorious morsel,
and that foundation of that mighty thing. The stealing guest was not
at all the wiser when he swallowed.

What is it? ;)

Seriously .... did it take you forever to type that into your computer???

I'm going to go out an a limb and guess: not "steak".

Good one, Anna. It's the bookworm riddle (obviously) and it reminded me of your blog, J9! Hi!

(we medievalists have superior typing skills. I've assigned all those letters shortcut keys. Kind of sad, in a way, isn't it?)

That's really really cool looking. I need to learn how to pronounce that stuff.
